About Calvary Assembly of God
We are a Spirit-filled community of faith rooted in Brookings, Oregon since 1954. For over seventy years, Calvary Assembly has been a place where people encounter the living God, find genuine community, and are equipped to live purposeful, faith-filled lives.
Our Story
Calvary Assembly of God was founded in June 1954 as part of the Assemblies of God — one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing Christian fellowships, with over 88 million members and 451,000 churches worldwide. From humble beginnings as a simple wooden building, our church has weathered seasons of growth, change, and even tragedy.
In 1995, our building was destroyed by fire. But what the fire could not touch was the faith and determination of the people who called Calvary home. From the ashes, a new church rose — and with it, a renewed commitment to the community we serve. Classrooms, gathering spaces, and ministry areas were added over the years as our congregation grew. Through every expansion and every challenge, two things have never changed: the message of Jesus Christ, and the warm, close-knit spirit of a church where everyone is known and everyone belongs.
What We Believe
As a member of the Assemblies of God and the Oregon Ministry Network, our faith is anchored in four core beliefs that have defined our mission from the beginning:
- Salvation — New life is available to everyone through faith in Jesus Christ
- Baptism in the Holy Spirit — God empowers His people for life and service
- Divine Healing — God is still in the business of restoring and making whole
- The Second Coming of Christ — We live with hope, expectancy, and purpose
